Vera Landscaping is QWEL certified and meets the EPA's Water Sense criteria. We're living in a desert and our state growing at a phenomenal rate. Growth can be a good thing but we need to grow smart. Our state currently consumes about 293 gallons of water per person per day, but we are the nation’s second driest state receiving only 13" of annual precipitation.
What can we do? We can all make small changes today, that will affect our children greatly tomorrow. By decreasing the amount of water we use on our yards we are making a great impact on our environment. "If Utah can reduce per capita consumption by 25% by the year 2050, we will have conserved around 400,000-acre feet of water per year. Without water conservation, the state will have to resort to developing new water projects that can be harmful and damaging to the environment". Utah Water Savers
It's OK to have turf, if you use it and water it more efficiently. Make sure your sprinklers are watering the lawn, not the street or sidewalks, and don't over water. If you don't use your lawn, replace some of it with decorative stone, native plants, activity areas, and a drip system. You'll still have a beautiful yard, but you'll be saving time, money, and the environment.
